Jeff Monaco, a Yale senior offensive guard, has been named to the 2007 collegesportingnews.com Division I Football Championship Subdivision pre-season All-America team. Monaco, a third-team selection, was the only Bulldog listed on the squad that was announced just four weeks before the Yale team assembles at New Haven.
Monaco, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman, was a 2006 first-team All-Ivy pick after the Bulldogs captured a share of the league title and finished 8-2 overall. The McDonald, Pa., native helped pave the way for running back Mike McLeod to amass 1,364 yards and 19 rushing TDs.
The former Canon McMillan High School standout has started the last 20 straight games at Yale. Six of his starts last fall were at guard with four others at tackle. Monaco is a two-year varsity letter winner.
