McLeod Named AFCA All-America

McLeod Named AFCA All-America

Dec. 8, 2007

Yale junior tailback Mike McLeod (New Britain, Conn.) has been selected to the 2007 American Football Coaches Association Football Championship Subdivision All-America Team.

McLeod, a first-team All-Ivy pick for the second season, was named Ivy League Player of the Year after breaking Yale's single-season records for rushing yards and touchdowns. He became Yale's first Ivy MVP in 20 years (QB Kelly Ryan in 1987) after running for 1,619 yards and 23 TDs and leading the nation for most of the year in average yards per game. He managed these numbers despite playing the last five games with a broken bone in his toe.

McLeod and Harvard's Steven Williams (DB) are the only players from the Ivy League selected on the AFCA All-America squad.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Bulldog owns the school career records with 48 TDs, 3,672 rushing yards, 817 attempts, 4,383 AP yards, three 200-plus yard games and 19 games over 100 yards. In addition, McLeod owns an Ivy record 18 straight games with TD.
