Bulldogs Poised for Final Match with Penn

Defeat Princeton and Columbia En Route to Championship Match

MATTAPOISETT, Mass. - After two matches at the Ivy League Match Play, the Yale men's golf team is still alive and ready to take on Penn in the championship match.  The Bulldogs defeated Princeton in the first round (3-2) and followed that up by taking down last year's Ivy League champions Columbia in the second round (3-2).

In the first round, Columbia defeated Brown 3-2, Yale defeated Princeton 3-2, Harvard defeated Dartmouth 3-2, and Penn defeated Cornell 3-2.  In the second round, Yale defeated Columbia 3-2 and Penn defeated Harvard 3-2 to set up the final between Yale and Penn.

Against Princeton, junior Tom McCarthy defeated Patrick Wasserman 2&1, senior captain Ben Wescoe defeated Greg Stamas 4&3, Chase Lovett-Woodsum defeated junior Brandon Marick, Evan Harmeling defeated freshman Brad Kushner and sophomore Jeff Hatten defeated Juan-Pablo Candela 2&1.

Against Columbia, McCarthy defeated Bredan Doyle 4&3, Wescoe defeated Clark Granum 2&1, Marick lost his match, Kushner def. Ford Fisher 6&4 and Hatten lost 1 down.

The Bulldogs will pit their five players against Penn's Sunday morning.
