Yale Claims Third at Adams Cup
Comeback in Second and Third Rounds Seals Result
NEWPORT, R.I. – The Yale men's golf team surged through the pack on the second day of play at the Adams Cup Tuesday, leaping up the leaderboard at the Newport National Golf Course to finish the tournament in third place.
It was an outstanding effort from a team that sat in sixth place after the first day's play, with all members contributing vital second and third round performances. The final result represents a significant improvement over last year's result, when the Bulldogs closed play in ninth place. The only schools to place above Yale this year were UCF and the University of Georgia.
Leading the way for the Elis was sophomore Sam Bernstein, who fired a final round 67 (-4) to ascend the leaderboard and finish in a tie for fourth place overall. His stroke play on Tuesday recalled the outstanding performances that powered him through the last season and won him the Ivy League Rookie of the Year Award.
