Opportunity to Build Momentum for Season Ahead

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After several months of dedicated training, the Yale men's golf team will kick off its spring season with the Mar. 12-13 Callaway Farms Invitational at the Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

With the three-round event, the Bulldogs will look to establish momentum that the team can carry through the course of the spring season. Yale will look to repeat its string of success last spring, which included wins at the Princeton Invitational and the Ivy League Championship.

"We are very excited to be competing in the University of San Diego's 54-hole event at The Farms at Rancho Santa Fe," said head coach Colin Sheehan '97. "The field includes many west coast schools that we get to see very rarely—as well as teams from Texas, Wyoming and Missouri. I know the Yale team is excited to begin the spring campaign with such a strong field."

Indeed, among the teams the Elis will contend with at the tournament include UConn, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, SMU, UC Irvine and the hosts, University of San Diego. The Bulldogs will have to sustain their performance throughout the 54-hole event—two rounds will take place on Mar. 12 while the final round will take place Mar. 13.

As such, the Farms Invitational will provide strong preparation for the Apr. 7 Yale Spring Opener at the Course at Yale. After that event, the Bulldogs will head to Princeton, N.J. to defend their title at the Apr. 14-15 Princeton Invitational.

Then, the Elis will compete at the Apr. 21-22 Century Intercollegiate in Purchase, N.Y. before the Apr. 27-29 Ivy League Championship, held this year at the Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, N.J.
