Team Heads Back East for Remainder of Spring Season

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – With a third round of play completed on Tuesday, the Yale men's golf team claimed 9th place at the Mar. 12-13 Callaway Farms Invitational at the Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., ending with a final score of +61.

The Farms Invitational represents the Bulldogs' season opener, providing them with preparation against strong west coast competition for the spring season ahead. Yale will look to repeat its string of success last spring, which included wins at the Princeton Invitational and the Ivy League Championship.

Leading the way for the Elis at Rancho Santa Fe were sophomore Sam Bernstein and freshman William Davenport, who both ended Tuesday with an overall score of +12, putting them in a tie for 28th place.

Close behind them was senior captain Jeffrey Hatten, who notched up an overall +20 score to finish in a tie for 41st place.

Overall, the tournament was clinched by San Diego State, which finished with a score of -2.

With the 54-hole tournament at a close, Yale will head back east in anticipation of the Apr. 7 Yale Spring Opener at the Course at Yale. After that event, the Bulldogs will head to Princeton, N.J. to defend their title at the Apr. 14-15 Princeton Invitational.
