Bernstein Ties For 10th
OPELIKA, Ala. — In a difficult opening tournament of the spring season, the Yale men's golf team finished Tuesday in 14th place at the Mar. 11-12 Tiger Invitational.
Hosted by No. 19 Auburn at the Lake Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Grand National in Opelika, Ala., the Tiger Invitational marked a tough start to the Elis' spring campaign. The tournament features a highly-ranked field including No. 48 Kentucky, No. 41 North Carolina and No. 26 Wake Forest.
Beset by rough weather which condensed play to one round on Monday, the Bulldogs fought through 36 holes on Tuesday to finish at 933, in 14th place. Mississippi State took home the championship.
The highlight for the Bulldogs was junior Sam Bernstein, who shot successive consistent rounds throughout the tournament to finish in a tie for tenth amid a highly-competitive field of golfers.
Next up for the Elis will be a historic match-up against No. 16 Georgia on Mar. 16 at the Mountain Lake Club in Lake Wales, Fla.
