Earns Second-Team All-Ivy Honors
OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Junior Sam Bernstein was unanimously voted Ivy League Player of the Year by the Ancient Eight men's golf coaches.
Bernstein's performance at the Apr. 26-28 Ivy League Championship, where the Bulldogs finished second behind Princeton, also earned him second-team All-Ivy honors. He carded a +9—just six strokes from the lead—to finish in sixth place.
The unanimous vote as Ivy League Player of the Year recognizes the stunning season Bernstein has had in 2012-13. He was the tournament medalist at the Sept. 17-18 Adams Cup, tied for third at the Apr. 20-21 Century Intercollegiate and finished fourth at the Apr. 13-14 Princeton Invitational.
This is not the first time Bernstein has been honored for his performance in the Ivy League: he also posted stellar results in the past two years.
As a freshman, he was voted the Ivy League Rookie of the Year by the Ancient Eight coaches and made the second team All-Ivy. Then, in his sophomore year, he earned first-team All-Ivy honors after finishing in outright third at the Ivy League Championship.
