Sept. 20, 2003

The 2003 Ivy League Champion men's golf team put in a strong performance at the Dartmouth Invitational, finishing twelve strokes in the lead after the first 18 holes of play in the opening weekend of the season.

The Bulldogs, with a score of 289, are trailed near the top of the leader board by Central Connecticut (301) and Dartmouth and Boston College (303).

With an individual score of 71, Yale's Gabe Borrud is tied for the lead with Mike Moreland from Central Connecticut.

Bulldogs Brian Kim and Rick Reissman finished the day with a score of 72, followed by Steve Gray, who shot a 74, and Dan Levy at 76. The round of golf was played on a challenging Dartmouth course that was recently renovated.

"They're playing solid," said Head Coach Dave Paterson. "The greens were tight and fast and very difficult and we're very pleased with our team's performance."

The Invitational continues tomorrow and Monday for the Elis, who are coming off an impressive 2003 spring season in which they got a bid to the NCAA tournament after winning the Ivy League.
