Yale First in Both ECAC Polls
Top Conference Pick 2nd Year in a Row
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – For the second straight year the Yale men have been picked to finish first in both the media and coaches' ECAC Hockey Pre-Season Poll. The Bulldogs, announced as the favorites at the league's media day festivities inside Boardwalk Hall, would love to make the pundits prophetic with a third straight conference regular-season championship.
ECAC Hockey announced both polls, its 50th anniversary celebration plans and had its coaches – including Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach of Hockey - available for the media today.
Yale, which led the nation in scoring with 4.15 goals per game last year, received 121 points including 11 of 12 first-place votes. ECAC Hockey Media gave Yale 354 points while the Elis gathered 25 (most ever by an ECAC team) of 30 first-place votes.
Cornell (92, 288) and Union (86, 276) were second and third respectively in both polls, while Rensselaer, Colgate and Dartmouth grabbed the next three spots in different order between the two lists.
Senior forward Broc Little (Rindge, N.H.) was the nation's leading scorer with .79 goals per game. He was one of six players from four different teams to make the coaches' pre-season All-ECAC Hockey squad that was also announced on the Boardwalk.
The Elis open the 2010-11 campaign on Oct. 29 when they host Brown on the first day of the Ivy Shootout at Ingalls Rink.
