Rondeau Earns MLX Skates Goalie of Week
Yale Senior Gets 3rd ECAC Honor
ALBANY, N.Y. – Ryan Rondeau, Yale's senior goalie, has earned his third conference weekly honor this season after helping the No. 2 ranked Bulldogs win a pair of games at the Whale. Rondeau, who stopped 59 of 61 shots, was named ECAC Hockey MLX Skates Goalie of the Week today.
The Carvel, Alb., native notched his third shutout of the year by stopping all 34 (career-high) Harvard shots in a 1-0 win on Feb. 4 before a packed Ingalls Rink. The next night, in front of another sellout crowd and a national TV audience on YES Network, Rondeau made 25 saves in a 4-2 win over No. 17 Dartmouth.
Rondeau, who had a 141:29 scoreless streak and consecutive shutouts (first time for a Yalie since 1998) in December, is 18-3 in net this winter. He ranks fourth in goals against (1.92) and seventh in save percentage (.929) in Division I.
Rondeau's career-high is 40 saves at Princeton in 2009. The senior, who owns a 24-7-1 career record, has been in net for seven wins over ranked teams including a 3-2 decision with North Dakota at the 2010 NCAA Northeast Regional semifinal.
The Bulldogs skate at St. Lawrence and Clarkson this weekend.
