Yale Ranked 8/9 in Division I

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After two straight seasons of coming within a game of making the NCAA Frozen Four, the Yale men's hockey team has been picked to be among the top 10 teams in Division I based on the two major pre-season polls. The Bulldogs are No. 8 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and sit No. 9 in the rankings.

The Elis received 277 votes, including two first-place nods, in the USA Today while getting one first-place vote and 571 points from the voters.

Yale, 28-7-1 last winter, was No. 1 in both polls for most of the 2010-11 campaign before falling in the East Regional Final. The Blue begins official practices on Oct. 14. Union, Rensselaer and Cornell were the only other ECAC Hockey teams to earn pre-season national rankings.
