O'Neill Gets 2nd ECAC Player of Month Award
Yale Captain Has Big February
ALBANY, N.Y. - Brian O'Neill, for the second straight time, has been named ECAC Player of the Month. The Yale senior forward earned that honor for February after netting six goals and 15 points in nine games.
The Bulldogs' captain helped his team finish the regular season with a 3-0-1 mark and a No. 6 seed in the ECAC Tournament that begins this weekend. O'Neill, who had a goal and four points in Yale's 5-2 win at Princeton last Friday, leads his squad against the Tigers in a best-of-three series that starts Friday at 7 p.m. at the Whale. Tickets are available for each night.
O'Neill, who leads the squad with 19 goals and 40 points, continues to climb over some old Bulldogs and former NHL players on the school's career stats list. Yale's Hobey Baker Candidate is now fourth in points (157), fourth in assists (90) and seventh in goals (67) on the school's career list. O'Neill ranks sixth in the nation and second in the ECAC (.68) in goals per game this year, he is eighth (1.38) in points.
