TROY, NY – The Yale men's hockey team closed out a disappointing trip to upper New York as they dropped a 4-1 decision to Rensselaer in ECAC action on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (13-9-3, 9-8-1 ECAC) gave sophomore Connor Wilson the start in goal with incumbent Jeff Malcolm still on the shelf. Wilson finished the game with 18 saves and falls to 0-2-0 on the season.
Rensselaer opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period and then Yale forward Andrew Miller evened things at the 7:33 mark of the second. His power play goal was assisted by Antoine Laganiere and Tommy Fallen. For Miller, it was his 12th goal of the season.
The Engineers (14-11-5, 9-6-3 ECAC) broke things open in the third with goals from Nick Bailen and Mike Zalewski to pad a two-goal lead. Mark McGowen added an empty netter to seal the victory.
Yale returns to the ice on Friday, February 22 in Hamden to face-off against Quinnipiac. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm.
