Agostino Named Pre-Season All-ECAC

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Half of the schools received first-place votes, but Yale had the most and became the pre-season favorite – according to the coaches – to take the 2013-14 ECAC Hockey men's regular season championship. The poll was announced at today's conference media day event at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

The Elis, defending NCAA Champions, were picked second in the media poll behind RPI.

In the voting by the coaches, the Bulldogs received four top votes, which was two more than Rensselaer, Quinnipiac and Union. Cornell (1 vote) was fifth, followed by Harvard, Dartmouth (1), Brown, Colgate, St. Lawrence, Princeton and Clarkson.

The league coaches and media also selected a pre-season All-ECAC squad and senior Kenny Agostino (Flanders, NJ) was one of the three forwards on both.

Yale opens its season with an Oct. 19 exhibition game against Ontario Tech at Ingalls Rink. Six days later, the regular season gets under way with the two-day Liberty Invitational at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

The Blue opens the home regular season slate and the conference season with St. Lawrence coming to the Whale on Nov. 1, the night the 2012-13 championship banner makes its debut.
