Yale Can't Protect Early Lead

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Bulldogs had a 1-0 lead after the first period but could not turn it into a victory. Princeton scored the game's last four goals in a 4-1 ECAC Hockey decision at Baker Rink.

The Elis got on the board late in the opening frame. Dante Palecco picked off a clearing attempt inside the home team's blueline and passed it to Brett Jewell, who moved it over to Mitchell Smith. The junior left shot moved the puck to his forehand and fired a wrister from the right circle that zipped over Austin Shaw's left shoulder.

Sam Tucker, the senior Yale goalie who made 28 saves tonight, stopped a trio of breakaways and blanked the Tigers on four advantages, including a 5-on-3 for the last 90 seconds of the second and the first 30 of the final frame.

The Bulldogs (11-9-3, 9-6-1) are now in fifth place, a point from third and two out of second with a home set next weekend against Colgate and Cornell.
