Arcobello, O'Neill Earn ECAC Hockey Awards
March 3, 2009
Junior Mark Arcobello (Milford, Conn.) and freshman Brian O'Neill (Yardley, Pa.), two forwards who helped the No. 10/11 Yale men's hockey team capture the 2008-09 ECAC Hockey regular season championship, received conference honors today for last weekend's performances.
Arcobello, ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, had the game-winning goal and three assists in Yale's 4-2 win over Cornell at home on Feb. 27. He added an assist two days later in a 3-2 OT loss to Colgate.
Arcobello, second in Division I with six game-winners, leads the team with 32 points and is second with 15 goals.
O'Neill, 17th among Division I freshmen (3rd in ECAC) with .79 points per game, earned conference rookie of the week honors for the second time this winter after scoring twice against the Big Red and adding an assist against the Raiders.
He has a team rookie-high 11 goals and 22 points.
O'Neill, Arcobello and junior Sean Backman, who had two goals and three points last weekend, form a line that was responsible for all four tallies against Cornell.
