Junior's Weekend Topped 2009 Season
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Yale junior attackman Brian Douglass (Waccabuc, N.Y.) has been named co-Ivy League Player of the Week after posting the two best goal-scoring performances in the league this season in back-to-back games last weekend. His 13 goal-output in those two games was a tally more than he put on the scoreboard in 13 games last spring.
Douglass started his weekend with seven goals and an assist in the Elis’ 16-14 win over Penn on April 3. He followed that with six more goals in Yale's Sunday 12-8 win over Detroit Mercy.
Douglass, who shared this week’s award with Dartmouth goalie Fergus Campbell (23 saves in win over Cornell) is currently second in the Ivies in overall goals (24) and leads the League in goals per game (3.0).
He is the second Yale player to earn Ivy Player of the Week honors. Matt Gibson, who had 4-7-11 this past weekend, earned the league accolade after a six-goal set on the first weekend of March.
The Bulldogs are 6-2 and play at Dartmouth on Saturday at 1 p.m.
