Johnson Named Ivy Rookie of Week

No. 16 Bulldogs Headed to PC

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Yale freshman lacrosse player Peter Johnson (Minnetonka, Minn.) has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week after helping the Bulldogs beat Dartmouth 8-3 at Hanover last Saturday.

The rookie defenseman was a key part of the Yale defense that blanked the Big Green for the first 37 minutes of the game and only allowed three late tallies after the game was out of reach. Johnson, who had two ground balls and caused one turnover, was assigned to cover Dartmouth’s top scorer and limited him to just one score.

This is the third Ivy League weekly honor for a Yale player. Matt Gibson and Brian Douglass were league players of the week earlier this season.

The Bulldogs (7-2), winners of three straight, head to Providence Tuesday night for a non-league game with the Friars.
