    He was a Yale captain and an All-Ivy pick in football and a three-time All-American and Hall of Famer in lacrosse. But the strength of character that separated Jon Reese from other great Yale athletes was his effort and attitude. Win or lose, he left nothing on the field.

    The Yale men’s lacrosse team welcomed 11 new members this fall. The Class of 2015 includes student-athletes from five different states, three of whom are listed among Inside Lacrosse Magazine’s Power 100 Freshmen.
  • Falcone Named To Capital One Academic All-America Third Team

    The honors continue to come in for Yale goalie Johnathan Falcone, who has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Men’s At-Large Third Team. Falcone ranked seventh in Division I with a 7.30 goals against average and was 14th in save percentage (.559) this spring. He was named the team’s defensive player of the year (Christian Prince Award) and finished his career eighth on the Yale career save chart with 360.

    The most prolific player in the history of the Yale men’s lacrosse program has been rewarded with something most college players can only dream about. Jonathan Reese ’90, Yale’s all-time leading scorer and the star of the best Bulldog teams ever, will be inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame on Oct. 29 in Hunt Valley, Md.

    Matt Gibson (Point Lookout, N.Y.) added to this spring’s list of honors when he was named to the 2011 USILA All-America Team. The Yale attackman, an honorable mention selection for the second straight year, was named to the prestigious squad today.

    2011 lacrosse captain Patrick Coleman (Ridgewood, N.J.) wore his cap and gown at Yale on Monday. Friday evening he will be back in a game uniform as a member of the North all-star team in the 2011 Lax World/USILA North/South Division I/II game at 5:30 p.m. at Goucher College’s Beldon Field.

    The New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) announced its 11th Division I All-New England Senior Scholar Athlete team today and three Bulldogs, seniors Brian Douglass (Waccabuc, NY), Patrick Coleman (Ridgewood, NJ) and Johnathan Falcone (Flemington, NJ), made the list.

    The Yale men's lacrosse team, coming off a 10-4 season and a second straight Ivy League Tournament appearance, announced its 2011 team awards with eight different Bulldogs earning one of the year-end honors primarily named after former players. Senior goalie Johnathan Falcone was named the winner of the L.C. Stowell Award as the team's most valuable player.

    The Yale men’s lacrosse team, winners of five of its last six games, has its biggest test of the 2011 season Friday night at Schoellkopf Field in the second semifinal of the 2011 Ivy League Tournament. The No. 19/20 Bullldogs (10-3), the tournament’s fourth seed, face No. 2 and top seed Cornell (11-2) at 8 p.m. in Ithaca. The winner takes on the survivor of the 5 p.m. No. 15 Penn (8-5) vs. No. 17 Harvard (9-5) contest Sunday at noon for the automatic NCAA Tournament spot.
