4 Bulldogs Named All-New England
Gibson, Mahony, Falcone First-Team Picks
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Four Yale lacrosse players have been selected to the 2011 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-Star Team announced today. Matt Gibson, Gregory Mahony and Johnathan Falcone were first-team picks while Cole Yeager earned second-team honors.
Gibson (Point Lookout, N.Y), the 2010 NEILA Player of the Year, scored 20 goals and had 36 points in 12 games on attack this spring. He was a first-team All-Ivy selection this season.
Falcone (Flemington, N.J.), Yale's 2011 team MVP in goal, was a second-team All-Ivy pick after finishing seventh in Division I in goals against (7.30) and 14th in save percentage. This is the senior's first All-New England selection.
Mahony (Mercer Island, Wash.), a junior midfielder who had 16 goals and 24 points, made his second straight NEILA all-star team this spring, while Yeager earned his first honors.
A sophomore face-off man, Yeager (Wayne, Pa.) is fifth in the nation with a .648 mark and led the Blue with 5.3 ground balls per game.
