Bulldogs Ranked 13th in Inside Lacrosse Poll
2012 Schedule Announced
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's lacrosse team, coming off consecutive 10-4 seasons, has been ranked 13th in the Division I insidelacrosse.com pre-season poll. One of five Ivy League schools listed in the poll, the Bulldogs begin the 2012 season by hosting St. John's on Feb. 25 at Reese Stadium.
The Blue, under head coach Andy Shay, opens with three straight non-league home games (St. John's, Albany, Sacred Heart) before heading to Bethlehem, Pa., to take on Lehigh in its first road game of the year on March 11.
Yale opens Ivy League play at Cornell on March 17, while the first home league contest is Princeton on March 24. Penn comes to Reese Stadium a week later and the Elis follow with four straight road games, two (Dartmouth, Brown) of which are against Ivies.
Yale, led by captain Michael Pratt (Garden City, N.Y.), finishes the 2012 regular season by hosting Bryant (April 20) and Harvard (April 28) with hopes of playing the following weekend in its third straight Ivy League Tournament.
"In the Ivy League, you have to bring your best game every weekend," said Pratt, a midfielder who had 42 ground balls and four goals. "We believe we can beat every team."
There are seven Bulldog men's games on the new synthetic surface at Reese Stadium this season: one in February, four in March and two in April.
"Playing at Reese gives us a home field advantage. We always want to protect our stadium," said the Yale captain.
