Bulldogs Look To Add To Win Streak
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 20 Yale men's lacrosse team (6-4), winners of four straight, takes a break from the Ivy League campaign to make its last road trip of the regular season, traveling to Stony Brook (4-7) Monday night for a 7:00 game at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
The Blue is coming off a four-overtime, 11-10 win at Brown last night that clinched a spot in the 2012 Ivy League Tournament. Deron Dempster scored the winner, his second of the night, while Matt Gibson led the way with five goals. Jack Meyer, who had his toughest stops in overtime, got the victory in net with eight saves.
Yale sits alone in third place with a 3-2 Ivy mark, slightly ahead of Harvard (2-2) and behind 4-0 league leaders Cornell and Princeton.
This is the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Seawolves in 14 years. The last game was in 1998 at New Haven, a 9-6 Yale win. The only other regular season encounter was an 18-13 Eli victory at Stony Brook in 1997.
Stony Brook, which beat UMBC tonight 10-8, got four goals from Mike Rooney (26-5-31) and 14 saves from Sean Brady (9.54, .519).
Yale, which is likely to move up in the USILA rankings after Friday's win, finishes the regular season by hosting Bryant on April 20 and Harvard on April 28.
