6 Bulldogs Earn All-Ivy

Gibson, Mahony, Johnson Make 1st Team

PRINCETON, N.J. – Six Bulldogs were announced today as members of the 2012 All-Ivy League Men's Lacrosse Team. Yale, preparing for its league tournament semifinal contest against Cornell on Friday, had a midfielder, an attackman and a defenseman make the first team.  One Eli defenseman was on the second squad, while two midfielders were honorable mention.

Yale's representation on the All-Ivy squad was equivalent to league champion Princeton and second place Cornell, though the Tigers had one more first-team selection than the Bulldogs.

Seniors A Matt Gibson and M Greg Mahony and junior D Peter Johnson were first-team picks. Gibson, who leads the Blue in scoring, is a repeat pick on the first unit with his third all-league selection overall. Mahony, a second-team member the last two years, appears on the top team for the first time. It was Johnson's first All-Ivy honor.

Junior D Michael McCormack, ranked third in the nation in caused turnovers, was Yale's lone second-team pick for the second straight year.

Senior midfielder Michael Pratt and sophomore face-off specialist Dylan Levings garnered honorable mention status, the first All-Ivy selections for both. Pratt, the Bulldogs' captain, has led the Elis to seven straight wins heading into the post season. Levings, currently the second best face-off man in Division I, is also top 10 in ground balls.
