Christian Prince Tourney is Oct. 14
Alumni Game Starts Fall Play on Oct. 6
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men's lacrosse team hosts the annual Christian Prince Memorial Tournament on Oct. 14 at Reese Stadium with UMass and Rutgers coming to town.
The games will be at 1:30, 3:15 and 5 p.m. with the Bulldogs playing in the first and third games. All contests consist of four 20-minute running periods. Admission is free, but a donation for the program is welcome.
One of the Elis will be honored for his efforts leading up to the tournament. The Elis have a team vote to determine who best represents Christian's character and work ethic. During the tournament, this player is honored by wearing No. 27, last worn at Yale by Prince. In previous years, Andrew Cordia, Chad Costello and Alfonso Costa have been chosen to wear the jersey.
Yale, coming off its Ivy League Tournament title and first NCAA tournament appearance in 20 years, returns a talented group. While they lost leading scorer Matt Gibson and All-American midfielder Greg Mahoney, the Bulldogs still have Dylan Levings (in photo), who ranked among the top five in the nation for face-offs in 2012. There is also Peter Johnson, an All-American defenseman, and new captain Mike McCormack, who ranked in the top 20 in the nation for ground balls last season.
The CPMT is not the first men's lacrosse games of the fall season. The annual alumni game is Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. at Reese with many of the players from the previous three years returning.
