Flaherty Named Ivy Player of Week

Bulldog Sophomore Had 6-Point Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn.Colin Flaherty, the sophomore midfielder who scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter that helped Yale beat Dartmouth last Saturday, was named co-Ivy League Player of the Week.

 

Flaherty, who had four goals and six points over two games last week, and the Bulldogs were down 5-4 to the Big Green at Reese Stadium in the fourth. The Eastport, N.Y., native scored the only goals of the final frame to help the Blue improve to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in Ivy play.

 

The Elis, defending Ivy League Tournament Champions and winners of three straight games, got a goal and two assists from Flaherty in the 13-6 win over Providence on April 2. He is fourth on the team with 10 goals and 17 points.

 

Flaherty's brother, Jack '11, played midfield for Yale and was drafted by the Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse in the 2012 supplemental draft.

 

He shares this week's league award with Cornell senior midfielder Steve Mock.
