    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale University men’s lacrosse team concluded its 2014 fall season with the Christian Prince Memorial Tournament on October 26. The Bulldogs went 1-1 on the day, defeating Boston University and falling to Hartford in the pair of scrimmages.

    It may be the middle of October, and the start of the college lacrosse season is four months away, but it’s a great time for the annual Christian Prince Memorial Tournament. This year’s fall event at Reese Stadium, which wraps up the fall practice schedule, will be played this Sunday starting at 10 a.m.

    Ten new Bulldogs from seven different states will join the Yale men’s lacrosse program this fall in preparation for the 2015 season. The class of 2018 includes six who have played midfield and two each on defense and attack. There are two face-off guys and a goalie among the newcomers with the state of New York producing a class-high of three.

Few Bulldogs could be considered more important to the success of the team over the last four years. That’s why the senior from Massapequa, N.Y. , was named the winner of the One Love Foundation’s 2014 Unsung Hero Award.

    Yale seniors Brandon Mangan and Dylan Levings were significant contributors in a wildly competitive USILA North-South All-Star Game played before the Division I national title game at M&T Stadium on May 26.

    He scored three goals or more in nine of Yale’s 14 games this spring on the way to a team-high 38 goals and 50 points. The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) recognized his offensive production in naming Conrad Oberbeck to its All-America team.

    There were 13.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter following a timeout. Mark Glicini had the ball running in from the sideline with Yale down a goal, looking to send the crucial Ivy League game to overtime. He suddenly spotted midfielder Shane Thornton cutting to the goal and hit him in stride. An extra session would have been the perfect way to finish off a crazy regular season, but Harvard goalie Jake Gambitsky stopped the shot from 15 feet away and ended the No. 13 Bulldogs’ hope for a sixth straight win.

    It has five straight wins, a berth in the Ivy League Tournament and a shot at five consecutive seasons with double-digit victories. The No.13 Yale men's lacrosse team (9-3, 3-2 Ivy) has accomplished a lot and has a lot on the line as No.16 Harvard (8-5, 4-1 Ivy) comes to New Haven to complete the regular season. Saturday is Senior Day for the Bulldogs with nine class of 2014 members suiting up at Reese for the last time in a 1:30 game that airs live on Fox College Sports TV.

    The Yale men’s lacrosse team has been in every Ivy post-season tournament since its inception in 2010. The 2014 Bulldogs earned their fifth straight appearance with a 3-2 league record a week from the end of the regular season.

    The No. 11 Bulldogs increased their win streak to four games with a win at the Big House in the first-ever meeting between Yale and Michigan. The Elis broke open a 6-3 game with three straight goals in the third quarter on the way to a 13-7 win in Michigan Stadium.
