Pro Teams Take 2 Yale Seniors

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A pair of Yale seniors, Dylan Levings and Brandon Mangan, were selected last weekend in the 2014 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft held at the U.S. Lacrosse Convention.

Levings, taken in the third round (24th overall) by Chesapeake, and Mangan, New York's fifth-round (34th) choice, were among seven Ivy League seniors picked by the eight-team professional league.

One of the nation's premier face-off specialists, Levings is a two-time USILA honorable mention All-American who was 2013 Ivy League Tournament MVP after leading the Bulldogs to their second straight championship.

Yale has a long list of superb face-off men, and most of them have played under Andy Shay, Yale's Ryan & Forst Family Head Coach. The fact that Levings' career percentage of .612 ranks second at the school is a testament to his impact on the program.

Levings ranked seventh in Division I with 7.59 ground balls per game and a .597 face-off win percentage. He won 30 of 40 battles on the X in the Ivy League Tournament.

Mangan, an attackman and 2013 Tewaaraton Trophy candidate, tallied the third most points in school history with 64 and the fourth-highest goal total with 39 last spring, both records for juniors at Yale. The 2013 USILA honorable mention All-America pick is also moving up Yale's career lists for goals (15th, 76) and points (19th, 118).

Mangan was a second-team All-Ivy League and first-team All-New England selection last season while also earning the Walter T. Collins Award as Yale's offensive MVP.

The Bulldogs, coming off a second straight NCAA appearance in 2013, open the 2014 campaign on Feb. 22 against St. John's at Reese Stadium.
