Incoming Freshman Peter Jacobson Helps Vardar Academy To National Title

Was Tournament's Leading Scorer With Four Goals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Peter Jacobson, who will join the Yale men's soccer team as a freshman this fall, added to his already impressive pre-Yale credentials over the weekend. Jacobson helped the Michigan-based Vardar Academy U-17/18 boys team to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy National Championship at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Jacobson was the tournament's leading scorer with four goals in as many games.

Vardar defeated Washington-based Crossfire Premier 3-1 to clinch the title. With his team trailing 1-0, Jacobson scored the equalizer with 15 minutes remaining in the first half. Vardar then scored two goals in a five-minute stretch of the second half.

In Vardar's group-clinching 3-0 win over Baltimore Bays Chelea, Jacobson scored two goals, including one off a header in the first half.

Jacobson is an Ann Arbor, Mich., native. He was a three-time first team all-state selection at Greenhills High School, where he served as team captain.

Jacobson will be one of six freshmen joining the Bulldogs in the fall.
