Bulldogs Kick Off Season Aug. 31 At Central Connecticut
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Nine home games, including a visit from perennial national contender UConn, highlight the 2012 Yale men's soccer schedule. The Huskies, who come to New Haven on Sept. 25, reached the third round of the NCAA College Cup last year. In all, the Bulldogs will play 17 games, starting on Aug. 31 at Central Connecticut.
Yale's home opener is set for Labor Day against Albany. The Bulldogs and Great Danes will be playing for only the second time. Two other non-league opponents will be making their first visits to New Haven in quite some time. Colgate (Sept. 7) last played at Reese Stadium in 2006, while Fordham (Sept. 21) hasn't been there since 1990.
In addition to UConn and Central Connecticut, Yale also faces state rivals Fairfield (Sept. 9), Quinnipiac (Sept. 14) and Sacred Heart (Sept. 16).
The Bulldogs start Ivy League play with three straight road games – at Harvard on Sept. 29, at Dartmouth on Oct. 6 and at Cornell on Oct. 13. Yale has home league games against Penn (Oct. 20), Columbia (Oct. 27) and the regular season finale against Princeton on Nov. 10.
Yale finished with an 8-7-2 overall record and a 4-3 Ivy mark last year.
