Rising sophomore Philip Piper played a key role in Force FC Academy of Michigan winning the 2013 Super-20 League Championship last weekend. Piper helped anchor a defense that posted a shutout in a 2-0 victory over Pacesetter SC of Ohio in the title game last Sunday at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
The tournament was arduous for the Force, who had only 14 players on its roster. The team played six games in five days, including two overtime periods in a semifinal win over the Toronto Lynx.
Piper made an impact at Yale in his first year, appearing in 16 games and making 11 starts. His first career point was an assist in the Bulldogs' victory over Sacred Heart.
