Catamounts Visit Tuesday At 5:30

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale's final non-conference home game will provide a challenge. The Bulldogs host Vermont on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Reese Stadium. The Catamounts have been one of the most successful programs in New England in recent years and are in the midst of another strong season.

Following the game, children 12-and-under are invited onto the field to "Kick With The Bulldogs."

Here are notes on Yale's second straight game against a Northern New England rival:

  • The Bulldogs (4-3-2, 0-1-1 Ivy) are coming off an impressive 1-1 tie at four-time defending Ivy champion Dartmouth on Saturday. Yale outshot the Big Green 17-9.
  • Aldo Quevedo, who scored Yale's goal against Dartmouth, and first year Paolo Carroll, who set it up with a nifty centering pass, were both named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday.
  • Carroll leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 12 points (4 goals, 4 assists). His 12 points and four goals are both third in the Ivy League. Carroll is a three-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week selection.
  • Yale and Vermont are playing in New Haven for the first time since 1996, a 4-3 Bulldog victory. Overall this is the 19th meeting between the teams, and the Catamounts lead the all-time series 10-6-2.
  • Yale is 1-0-1 at Reese so far this season.

Vermont (8-4) has won two of its last three games, including a 2-1 win over Hartford on Saturday. Yale is the second Ivy League opponent for the Catamounts, who dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Dartmouth on Oct. 2. Justin Freitas (6 goals) and Geo Alves (7) have combined for 13 of UVM's 23 goals. Vermont has spent some time ranked in the United Soccer Coaches top-25 weekly poll this season. Two of the Catamounts' four losses have come to nationally ranked opponents - No. 10 Duke and No. 19 UMass Lowell.
