NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men's soccer team gets a break from Ivy League play on Tuesday night. It certainly isn't an easy break, however. Defending ACC champion Boston College is the opponent at Reese Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and fans can follow live stats of the game on GameTracker. Free audio is available from WYBC.
Yale's defense has been particularly stingy recently. The Bulldogs (4-5-1) haven't allowed more than one goal in a game since Sept. 14 against Fairleigh Dickinson. Goalkeeper Travis Chulick has been part of the reason why. Chulick was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday after making five saves in Saturday's hard-fought 1-0 loss at Dartmouth. He has played every minute of every game in goal and is second in the league in save percentage (.839).
Boston College (5-4-2) also has impressive defensive statistics. The Eagles have allowed more than one goal only once all season. Chris Brown has seen all of the action in goal for BC and has a 0.95 goals against average. Boston College is coming off a 1-1 tie with Iona on Saturday. Conor Fitzpatrick scored his first career goal for the Eagles.
The two teams are playing for the seventh straight year. Last season in Chestnut Hill the Bulldogs earned a scoreless tie with the Eagles, who were ranked sixth in the nation at the time.
