NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 2 Yale men's squash team will begin play for the Potter Cup this Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Brady Squash Center, when the Bulldogs will battle the No. 7 seed, Dartmouth.
Yale, which completed a perfect conference season by winning the Ivy League title with an 8-1 victory over Harvard last Saturday, finished the regular season with a record of 12-1. The Bulldogs' lone regular season loss came 8-1 at the hands of No. 1 Trinity on Jan. 20.
Dartmouth enters postseason play riding a three-game winning streak, a run that includes victories over Ivy League rivals Penn and Brown. The Big Green finished the regular season with an 11-6 record, a mark that includes an 8-1 loss to Yale on Jan. 9.
When the two teams square off on Friday, both will be competing in for the Potter Cup, the championship trophy awarded annually to the nation's top squash team. Trinity has won 11 consecutive Potter Cups, a streak that the Bulldogs will attempt to end this season. If Yale defeats Dartmouth on Friday afternoon, the Elis would face the winner of the No. 3 Rochester and No. 6 Cornell on Saturday at 3 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday.
