NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Aaron Fuchs and Hywel Robinson each won his opening match in the first round of the CSA Men's Individual Championship, while three of their teammates were eliminated.
In opening round play, senior Aaron Fuchs defeated Franklin & Marshall's Guilherme De Melo in five games to advance to the round of 16, where he faced Andres Vargas of Trinity. Freshman Hywel Robinson, seeded 7th in the tournament, won his first round match in three dominant games.
Bulldogs Todd Ruth, John Roberts and Richard Dodd all lost their opening round matches in three games, and will now play in the consolation bracket.
The three Bulldogs entered in the Molloy Division all received first round byes. In the second round, Robert Berner defeated Brian Warner of Amherst in five games, while Naishadh Lalwani and Christopher Plimpton both won 3-0 in their respective matches.
