NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's squash team has elected junior Ryan Dowd as captain for the 2011-2012 season. Dowd, a former hockey player from Weston, Mass., began playing competitive squash in high school. This season, Dowd played mostly at the No. 6 and No. 7 position, and finished the season with a 13-4 record. Dowd's career highlight at Yale thus far was reaching the quarterfinals of the CSA Individual Championship Division B Draw this season.
The Bulldogs held their annual banquet on Wednesday night to honor a season in which they won the Ivy title outright with an undefeated Ivy League season. The Bulldogs placed second in the CSA Nationals to perennial powerhouse Trinity, and were the only team to challenge Trinity's 14-year winning streak, tying up the match 3-3 at Nationals before falling 5-4.
The Bulldogs also presented the team awards and honored senior captain Naishadh Lalwani for his leadership throughout the season.
