The first time No. 3 Yale and No. 6 Cornell met this season, it took a clutch victory from senior Robby Berner to bring home the 5-4 victory for the Bulldogs. Berner was the story for the Bulldogs again Friday when the two teams rematched at the CSA Team Championships, but this time, he was his team's lone winner in an 8-1 quarterfinal defeat.

Berner's victory at the No. 7 spot was almost one of two Yale wins on the day, as junior Ricky Dodd started promisingly at the No. 3 spot. Dodd grabbed the first two games of that match, but fell in five to Cornell's Thomas Spettigue. Freshman John Roberts at No. 9 and sophomore Neil Martin at No. 6 both fell 3-1, and No. 2 Hywel Robinson dropped his match 3-0.

Samuel Clayman battled at the No. 8 spot, but eventually fell in five. Classmates Ryan Dowd (No. 5) and Skillman Award Nominee John Roberts (No. 4) were also unsuccessful in their matches.

The Bulldogs will take on No. 7 Dartmouth in a consolation match tomorrow. The Big Green fell to No. 2 Princeton 8-1 Friday afternoon.
