NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After a sixth-place finish at the CSA Team Championships, the Yale men's squash team heads to Amherst, Mass. Friday for the three-day CSA Individual Championships. Last year's top Bulldog in the final rankings was Kenneth Chan, who closed out the season as the nation's 12th-best player. The individual championships play a major role in determining those final rankings.
Chan's classmates Hywel Robinson and Richard Dodd rounded out 2011-2012 as No. 17 and 18, respectively, while senior John Roberts also cracked the top 25 at No. 23. Roberts was nominated for the prestigious Skillman Award this season, in addition to winning the closing match in the Bulldogs' streak-busting win against then-No. 1 Trinity in January.
Chan reached the quaterfinals of the A division draw at last year's individual championships, while seniors Robert Berner and Ryan Dowd both carved their way to the quarterfinals in the B division draw. This weekend's matches will represent the last college squash action of theirs, Roberts's and classmate Samuel Clayman's impressive Yale careers.
