AMHERST, Mass. - Six Bulldogs headed to Amherst, Mass. to compete in the CSA Individual Championships this weekend. Sophomore Neil Martin was the last Eli standing after Day One, as he secured a spot in the Molloy Division third round with a bye and a win in Friday's action. Senior Robert Berner, also in the Molloy Division, was also the recipient of a bye to the second round, but fell in a grueling five-game showdown to the Naval Academy's Andrew McGuinness.
Juniors Kenneth Chan and Richard Dodd joined seniors John Roberts and Ryan Down in the Pool Division bracket. Chan dropped the first game of his first match, but stormed back to win in four to progress to the second round. Once there, he fell in four games to Columbia's Ramit Tandon.
Dodd's path was similar. After earning a tough, five-game win in his first round match, he fell in three games to Princeton's Samuel Kang.
Both Dowd and Roberts saw their days end in the first round, Dowd's in three games to Ramit Tandon and Roberts in a heart-breaking five-set match to Rochester's Andres Duany.
