PRINCETON, N.J. - The Bulldogs claimed fifth place at the CSA Team Championships with a 6-3 victory over Cornell Sunday in Princeton, N.J.
The win over Cornell came a day after Yale defeated Penn 7-2. The Bulldogs also defeated both of these teams in the regular season. In the season opening match, Yale defeated Penn 8-1. Later in the season, Yale edged Cornell 5-4.
The winner of the CSA Team Championships was no surprise as Trinity won its 11th consecutive CSA National Championship to extend the longest active winning streak in any intercollegiate varsity sports to 202 matches. What was a surprise was the difficult with which Trinity defeated No. 2 ranked Princeton. It came down to the wire, as Trinity needed a comeback in the fifth game of the clinching match to defeat Princeton 5-4.
Yale was eliminated from the main draw with a 5-4 loss to Rochester Friday. Rochester ended up claiming third place with a 7-2 victory over Harvard Sunday.
The official box score and results will be added when they become available.
