Bulldogs Face Off Against Dartmouth and Penn

Elis Ready for Test

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's swimming and diving team is back in the pool for its second meet of the week. This Saturday Jan. 12, the Elis will be competing against Dartmouth and Penn at Sheerr Pool in Philadelphia.  Diving will begin at 10:00 a.m. and swimming will begin at 1:00 p.m. EST.

The Elis defeated Cornell 176-124 on Monday afternoon. The victory was the Bulldogs' first of 2013. In what was a close meet between the two teams, Yale overcame an early deficit to claim victory at the dual meet.

Once again, the Bulldogs relied upon the consistent performances of sophomores Alwin Firmansyah, Rob Harder and Mike Lazris. Firmansyah won the 100-yard freestyle. Harder won the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle. Lazris won the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley.

Penn handily defeated Cornell on Nov. 17, 2012 by a score of 207-93. Dartmouth scored 152 to Cornell's 148 in a three-team meet that Harvard won on Nov. 10, 2012.

Yale has had its luck with Dartmouth recently and historically. Yale holds a 79-8 advantage in head to head matchups with Dartmouth.

Yale also holds the historic advantage over Penn 102-21. However, Penn has won two out of the last three meetings between the schools, with Yale's most recent victory coming last season on Jan. 14, 2012.

The Bulldogs will need to continue relying on their super sophomores and their depth of talent to pull out a victory this Saturday and remain undefeated.
