New Haven, CT - The Bulldogs lost to the Crimson 227.5 to 125.5 and to the Tigers 213 to 140 Friday and Saturday at home. Junior Alex Righi, senior Jeffrey Lichtenstein, and sophomore Thomas Robinson provided Yale with its only first place finishes during the competition.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Righi set a pool record to earn first place in the event with a time of 44.16. Righi took first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.23. In the 50-yard freestyle, Righi edged Princeton's Geoff Faux by just over three tenths of a second.
In the two diving competitions, Lichtenstein destroyed the competition. In the 1-meter diving, Lichtenstein defeated the nearest competition by over 59 points with a score of 388.60. Lichtenstein defeated Princeton's Michael Papageorge by 58.10 points in the 3-meter diving with a score of 358.50.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Robinson finished in first place by over two seconds.
Yale relay teams took second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay. In the 100-yard breaststroke, junior Matt Sweitzer finished in second place with a time of 56.89. Junior Chris Pool finished in third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.02.
The Bulldogs will play host to Connecticut next Saturday before concluding their regular season against in Providence against Brown February 16.
