ANNAPOLIS, MD - On the opening day on the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, Yale's Jeffrey Lichtenstein finished in 12th place overall in the men's 3-meter diving competition. Lichtenstein finished with 566.45 points over the two rounds.
In the preliminary round Friday morning, Lichtenstein scored 265.70 points over his six dives. That score was good enough for 17th place, earning him a spot among the top 18 who qualified for the afternoon final.
In the final round of diving, Lichtenstein showed great improvement from his morning dives, finishing with 300.75 points. This higher score moved the sophomore up five spots to his 12th overall finish. The top four overall point scorers from today's competition will advance to the NCAA National Championship in two weeks' time.
Lichtenstein is Yale's only representative at Zone A Championships, held in Annapolis, MD and hosted by Navy. He was one of only six EISL divers to qualify for today's final.
