The Bulldog swimmers and divers beat both SCSU (192-97) and Maine (211-75) on Saturday in their home opener. Senior Kieran Locke had two first place finishes, including a time of 1:43.97 in the 200 Freestyle, more than three seconds ahead of second place finisher, fellow Eli Jack Hutchinson '09 (1:47.19).
Locke, Tom Hardy '06, Geof Zann '07 and Alex Goldsmith '08 also won the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:37.88. Yale's 'B' team came in second, as Mike Slater '07, Cameron Hendrick '06, Ben Dzialo '07 and Dan Li '09 finished with 1:39.92.
Matt Thunell '07 won the 100 Freestyle with 47.84, followed closely by Morgan Locke '08 (47.99), Li (48.76) and Tyler Scheid '09 (49.39), who swept the next three spots. The underclassmen also dominated as sophomore Connor Murphy won the 200 Butterfly with 1:57.08, followed by freshmen Sebastian Cousins (1:57.29) and Paolo Benvenuto (1:59.73) in second and third. Freshmen Alex Righi and Dennen McCloskey took the first two spots in the 100 Backstroke, Righi winning with a time of 50.14 and McCloskey finishing second with 53.45. Billy Rubenstein '08 won the 200 Backstroke wth 1:55.21, and Colin Stalnecker '08 won the 200 Breaststroke with 2:10.78.
Sophomore divers Jeff Lichtenstein and Doug Scott finished first and second, respectively, in the 1 meter event.
The Bulldogs travel to Fairfax, Virginia this weekend for the Patriot Invite.
