Bulldogs Will Face Dartmouth and Penn on Saturday
Jan. 16, 2009
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldog men's swimming and diving team will look to improve on its Ivy League record against Dartmouth and Penn this weekend in Hanover, N.H. The Bulldogs, who are currently 1-1 in the Ivy League, defeated both teams by large margins in 2008.
The Elis, who most recently swam fast times, including a pool record in dual meet losses against Cornell and Navy on Jan. 10, are in good shape and ready to get a winning streak started. The Bulldogs did not have trouble achieving that goal in 2008 against Dartmouth and Penn as they defeated Dartmouth 244-55 and Penn by a score of 217-70. The Bulldogs placed first in 14 of the 16 events contested. The team only dropped the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle, events that the Bulldogs should have a chance of winning based on this season's past performances.
Penn is currently 2-3 in Ivy League competition while Dartmouth sits at 0-4. The Bulldogs beat Columbia 172-128 on Nov. 15, a team that Penn fell to by a score of 170-128. Penn did defeat Cornell, though, 189-111. Dartmouth has not competed since Nov. 24, when it dropped dual meets to Navy and Brown.
