Powers Named Ivy League Player of the Year
Freshman Marc Powers (Stamford, Conn.) was named the Ivy League Player of the Year after a stellar season that included a 7-0 Ivy League record. Powers also won Ivy League Rookie of the Year and became the first player to ever win both awards in the same year.

No. 74 Yale wrapped up its regular season with a 6-1 victory over Brown Saturday at Brown University. The Bulldogs concluded the season with a 16-8 overall record and a 5-2 record in the Ivy League. Yale’s 5-2 Ivy League record was good for a second place Ivy League finish.

The Yale men’s tennis team hung tough with USC Upstate in every match on Tuesday, taking every singles match to a deciding third set and pushing all three doubles contests to an 8-6 final tally. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, it was the host Spartans would came up on the winning side of all but one of those matches en route to a 6-1 victory. Sophomore Joel Samaha won his singles match at the No. 6 slot for Yale.

Furman Sneaks Past Yale, 4-3
The Yale men’s tennis team swept the doubles point to open its match at Furman on Monday afternoon, but could not overcome a strong showing by the Paladins is singles play, as the home team snapped the Bulldogs’ seven-match winning streak with a 4-3 victory. No. 1 singles player Marc Powers and No. 5 Connor Dawson won their singles matches for Yale.

Yale Wins Seventh Straight Match; Tops Winthrop, 4-3
Nearly 900 miles away from the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, the Yale men’s tennis team has established a suitable home away from home on the campus of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. The Bulldogs earned a victory on the courts of the Earle Tennis Center for the second consecutive day, besting Winthrop on Sunday afternoon by a score of 4-3. Yale, winner of its last seven matches, now owns a 9-3 record in the spring season.

Bulldogs Down Wofford, 6-1
After rain in South Carolina delayed the start of action on its spring trip, the Yale men’s tennis began its slate of four matches in the Palmetto State this afternoon with a convincing 6-1 victory over Wofford. The Bulldogs won all three double matches in the win, and took five straight-set singles matches from the Terriers. The match was played in Charleston, S.C. on the campus of The Citadel.

Yale men's tennis team won the doubles point and three of six singles matches to beat Maryland-Baltimote County Friday night at Navy. The Bulldogs won doubles 2-1 on the strength of an 8-4 win from the No. 2 team of Calvin Bennett and Marc Powers along with an 8-6 win from the No. 3 team of captain Connor Dawson and Daniel Hoffman. Singles wins came from Powers at No. 1 (6-1, 6-2), Hoffman at No. 3 (6-1, 7-6) and Joel Samaha at No. 5 (7-6, 6-2).

Powers won his fifth straight match against a seeded opponent in the semifinals by defeating No. 17 seed Haig Schneiderman of Columbia 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
