NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman Marc Powers was named the Northeast Region ITA Rookie of the Year. This is the third accolade of the year for Powers, who also claimed Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year honors.
Powers, the first player ever to garner both Ivy men's tennis awards in the same year, went undefeated in Ivy League play at No. 1 singles this season for the Bulldogs, finishing the year with a 29-10 overall record. The Stamford, Conn., native lost just one set in conference play and was recognized with unanimous selection to the All-Ivy Singles first team.
Powers' success helped carry the Elis to a 16-8 record and a No. 74 ITA ranking nationally. Yale placed second in the Ivy League with a 5-2 record.
