New Haven, Conn. – The Bulldogs finished play at the Princeton-Farnsworth Invitational Sunday, with sophomore Marc Powers dropping the final of the A singles draw.
Powers, the No. 1 seed in the A draw, had been relatively untested in his first three matches of the weekend, cruising to victories in straight sets each time. On Sunday afternoon, however, he came up against the No. 2 seed Eddie Bourchier of Penn State. Bourchier, who won his first two matches convincingly, had to rally back on Saturday against fellow Nittany Lion Bryan Welnetz after dropping the first set 3-6. He took control of Sunday's match-up with Powers, pulling out a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The Bulldogs return to action Friday at the USTA Invitational in Flushing, N.Y.
