NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the third match of its spring season, Yale will take on Army at the Cullman-Heyman tennis facility this Sunday at 2p.m. Yale's match against No. 75 William & Mary on Thursday was cancelled for inclement weather, so the Bulldogs will contest only one match this week. The Bulldogs (0-2) began their spring season last Saturday, dropping two 4-3 matches to Boston College and Purdue.
"Although we've had a slow start to the season, we've been practicing hard and are ready for our match against Army this weekend. We'll definitely be prepared for our Ivy season in April, and we're looking forward to playing more matches," said sophomore Daniel Hoffman.
The Black Knights kicked off their spring season with a 5-2 victory over Fairfield at West Point. Last week, Army fell to No. 71 Penn State 2-5. Army has an Ivy-filled weekend to look forward to, and will travel to Pennsylvania to contes the Penn Quakers on Saturday before travelling to Yale.
Last season, the Bulldogs defeated the Black Knights 6-1, winning five matches in straight sets. Yale won the doubles point and five of six singles matches to clinch the victory.
