Elis Named ITA All-Academic Team for Record 17th Straight Year
The Yale men’s tennis team has once again been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an All-Academic Team. In addition, an impressive 10 members of the Bulldogs’ squad have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes for 2011-12.

Yale No. 8 in Final ITA Northeast Region Rankings
The Yale men’s tennis team finished the season ranked No. 8 in the ITA’s Northeast Region rankings, improving on last year’s final ranking by one spot. Yale also had three players ranked in the regional top 13 in singles -- more than any other Ivy League team -- plus the No. 3 doubles team in the region.

Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced
The Ivy League has released its list of student-athletes selected for 2011-12 Academic All-Ivy honors in its spring sports, and 10 Yale student athletes were recognized. The 10 men and women were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each Ivy institution nominated five men and women from its eligible student-athletes.

Trio of Juniors Earn All-Ivy Honors
Three rising seniors on the Yale men’s tennis team gained recognition Thursday for their outstanding performance in conference play this season when the Ivy League announced its annual All-Ivy awards. Juniors Daniel Hoffman, John Huang and Marc Powers were all named to the First Team All-Ivy.

No. 58 Brown Drops Yale in Season Finale, 5-2
The Yale men’s tennis team battled hard but ultimately came up short in its final match of the season Saturday, falling to No. 58 Brown, 5-2. Playing at Brown, the Bulldogs managed to cap off a strong doubles season by winning the doubles point, but the Bears proved too strong in singles play and scored victories in five of the six positions.

Yale to Face No. 58 Brown in Season Finale
The Yale men’s tennis team will look to cap its winning season with an emphatic victory when it travels to play its season finale against No. 58 Brown on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Elis have not won a match since dramatically upsetting No. 42 Columbia, but they will have one more chance to snap their losing slide when they play Brown, a team currently tied with Yale at sixth place in the Ivy League standings.

The Yale men’s tennis team lost its final home match of the season Sunday, falling to No. 60 Dartmouth, 5-2. For the second straight match, No. 73 Yale narrowly lost the doubles point, while Dartmouth backed up its doubles performance with four wins in singles play.

The Yale men’s tennis team was unable to pull off an upset in the latest chapter of the Harvard-Yale rivalry as it lost to No. 24 Harvard 5-2 on Friday at the Beren Tennis Center. No. 73 Yale narrowly lost the doubles point, and the Crimson then stamped out any hopes of a Bulldog victory by swiftly winning three singles matches to clinch.

Important Weekend Ahead for No. 73 Yale
The season is beginning to wind down for the Yale men’s tennis team, but the Bulldogs are about to enter their most important and difficult Ivy League stretch. After a weekend that saw No. 73 Yale take out No. 45 Columbia but then fall to Cornell the next day, the team will look to get its first back-to-back wins of the Ivy League season this upcoming weekend against two ranked opponents. The Elis travel to play No. 24 Harvard at 2 p.m. on Friday and then play their final home match of the season against No. 60 Dartmouth at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Cornell Rallies to Beat Yale, 4-3
The Yale men’s tennis team was unable to make it a perfect weekend at home as they came up short against Cornell on Sunday in another match that lasted nearly five hours. The Bulldogs managed to sweep the doubles matches, but the Big Red came back to win four singles matches to take its first Ivy League victory this season, 4-3.

The Yale men’s tennis team pulled off an upset against No. 37 Columbia playing at home on Saturday afternoon in an intense match that lasted nearly five hours. The Bulldogs saw their seven-match doubles point winning streak come to an end, but posted four singles wins to break Columbia’s 12-match winning streak by a final score of 4-3.

The Santa Clara men’s tennis team just reached an all-time high in the ITA rankings at No. 29 earlier this week, but the Yale Bulldogs nearly shortened that celebration Thursday afternoon at Degheri Tennis Center. After taking the doubles point 2-1, Yale pushed the Broncos to the limit with two wins in the top three singles spots, but ultimately Santa Clara avoided the upset with a 4-3 win.

Dorato Honored with USTA New England’s Joseph Deitz Bowl
Alex Dorato, Yale’s Cary Leeds Coach of Men’s Tennis, has been selected as the winner of the 2011 USTA New England Joseph Deitz Bowl. The Deitz Bowl is given annually by USPTA-New England to the professional who has done the most for New England tennis. Dorato -- who recently became Yale’s all-time leader in coaching wins -- will be presented with the award at USTA New England's Annual Awards Luncheon on Saturday, Mar. 3.

Columbia Edges Yale 3-2 on Final Day of ECAC Indoor Championship
The final day of competition for the Yale men’s tennis team at the ECAC Indoor Championship saw the Bulldogs come up just short of victory in the 7th/8th place match vs. Columbia. Straight-set wins in singles by senior captain Erik Blumenkranz and sophomore Kyle Dawson put the Bulldogs just one point away from victory in the match’s 4/1 format (four singles matches, then one doubles match). But Columbia won the top two singles spots in three sets, then won the doubles point 8-4 to hand Yale a 3-2 loss.

No. 70 Princeton Tops Yale 4-1 in ECAC Indoor Tournament
Yale once again found itself facing off against an Ancient Eight rival at the ECAC Indoor Championship Saturday afternoon at Dartmouth’s Boss Tennis Center. The Bulldogs had a late night Friday, falling to No. 60 Harvard in the last of four matches of the day. That put them up against Princeton, the No. 4 seed, on Saturday afternoon, as the No. 70-ranked Tigers had lost to host Dartmouth on Friday. Yale was unable to turn things around in the short time span, falling to the Tigers by the identical score that they fell to the Crimson -- 4-1.

No. 60 Harvard Tops Yale 4-1 in First Round of ECACs
A long day ended in defeat for the Yale men’s tennis team Friday at Dartmouth’s Boss Tennis Center in the first round of the ECAC Indoor Championship. Facing No. 60 Harvard in the last of four matches of the day, the Bulldogs had to wait roughly two hours past the scheduled 6 p.m. start time as the other matches dragged on. They then battled through a grueling doubles point that went Harvard’s way thanks to a 9-8 win at No. 2 and an 8-6 win at No. 3. After all that, the Crimson claimed three singles matches to finish off the 4-1 win.

Junior Daniel Hoffman won the final of the Connecticut State Championships after defeating fellow Bulldog freshman Kyle Dawson (3-6, 6-0, 10-2). Hoffman and Dawson advanced to the finals from an all Yale semifinal: Hoffman bested Zachary Krumholz (6-4, 6-1), while Daweson defeated senior captain Erik Blumenkranz (7-6, 6-4). In doubles, junior John Huang and senior Erik Samaha defeated Fairfield’s duo of Sauter and Ziobinsky (8-3).

Braving the snowstorm, the Yale men’s tennis team played a spectacular day of matches at the Connecticut State Championships on Saturday. Juniors Daniel Hoffman and Zachary Krumholz, sophomore Kyle Dawson, and senior captain Erik Blumenkranz all advanced to the semifinals. Hoffman will play Krumholz and Dawson will play Blumenkranz in the all Yale semifinal. In doubles, the final match will between Bulldogs as well, with Dean and Dawson taking on junior John Huang and senior Joel Samaha.

Powers Advances to Round of 32 in USTA Regionals
Junior Marc Powers, the No. 6 seed, won his first match in the USTA Regionals after receiving a bye in the first round. Powers won his match against Harvard's Sean Chaudhuri in a quick straight set win (6-1,6-2). Powers is the lone Bulldog to remain in the tournament on Sunday. Powers will take on Princeton's Matt Siow in the Round of 16.

Bulldogs Play Cornell Invitational
Seven members of the Yale men’s tennis team traveled to Ithaca this weekend for the Cornell Invitational. On day one, Yale took on Binghamton in singles and doubles and Cornell in singles. Overall, the Bulldogs defeated Binghamton in both contests, but came up just short against Cornell. Cornell, last year’s Ivy League Championships with an undefeated season, will definitely be a team to watch again this year. However, since top players from both teams were missing due to the All-American Tournament, Yale will have more chances later in the season against the Big Red.

Hoffman and Powers Knocked out of ITA - All American
Juniors Daniel Hoffman and Marc Powers came up just short against Tulsa's Clifford Marsland and Ashley Watling in the second round of the ITA All-American Tournament. Hoffman and Powers played well, and forced the eight-game pro-set into a tiebreak (9-8 (4)). Marsland and Watling are the No. 4 seeded team in the tournament. Hoffman and Powers defeated the No. 16 ranked team in the nation, Peter Kobelt and Connor Smith from Ohio State.

Juniors Daniel Hoffman and Marc Powers defeated Peter Kobelt and Connor Smith from Ohio State in the first round of the ITA All-American Doubles Draw. Powers and Hoffman were the only Bulldogs to qualify outright for the ITA All-American Tournament after posting strong doubles results for the 2010-11 season. Kobelt and Smith are the No. 16 ranked doubles team in the nation.

Tough Day for Bulldogs at All-American
After a successful first day at the ITA All-American Qualifier, in which four members of the Yale men’s tennis team advanced to the second round, the Bulldogs were unable to keep the momentum going. All four Bulldogs were knocked out of the tournament on Tuesday. However, their performance in this year’s tournament represents a sharp improvement over last year, which bodes well for the rest of the season. Last year, no Bulldog managed to survive the first day of tournament play.

With Two Victories, Huang Advances to ITA All-American Qualifier
Junior John Huang won two matches in the ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying on Sunday, defeating George Washington's Alexander Van Gils and Nebraska's Eric Sock. With these victories, Huang advances to the qualifying round of the tournament, which will begin on Monday. Since the top 16 finishers from the Pre-Qualifying draw advance to the Qualifying draw, Huang's four victories have guaranteed him a spot. Classmates Marc Powers and Daniel Hoffman are already entered in the qualifying draw.

After two straight weekends of tournament play, five members of the Yale men’s tennis team will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the ITA Men’s All-American Championships. The nine-day tournament will host over 300 of the top players in the nation, with the singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions receiving automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships Nov. 3-6 in Flushing, N.Y.

The Yale men’s tennis team wrapped up the three-day USTA Invitational on Sunday, with three Bulldogs reaching the final round. Junior Zachary Dean won the finals of the “G” singles draw, the seventh of nine brackets for singles play, after defeating GW’s Richard Blumenfeld in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). Dean won all four matches of the tournament in two sets.

Coming off a strong opening weekend at the Princeton-Farnsworth Tournament, members of the Yale men’s tennis team will compete in the USTA Invitational in Flushing, N.Y., on Friday. The 128-player draw will bring together the top national players, who are divided into nine singles flights for the weekend-long tournament. The tournament is held at the Billy Jean King National Tennis Center, the site of the U.S. Open tournament.

Bulldogs Off to Strong Start at Princeton-Farnsworth Invitational
The Yale Bulldogs took to the road to Princeton for their first matches of the 2010-11 Season on Friday. The team fielded players in each of the eight draws, and six Bulldogs have won all their matches thus far and will compete in the singles draws on Saturday.

Men's Tennis to Kick Off Season at Princeton-Farnsworth Tournament
The Yale men’s tennis team will kick off its 2011-12 season this Friday at the Princeton-Farnsworth Invitational in Princeton, N.J. The weekend-long tournament will hosts five singles draws in Princeton’s Jadwin Gymnasium and Lenz Tennis Center.

Five Bulldogs Selected for ITA All-American Tournament
The ITA has released its first set of rankings, and Bulldog junior Marc Powers will begin the season ranked the No. 118 singles player in Division I.
